And also is it only based on the device or on the clubcard of a person? So can they flag a new card or something so that it is checked all the time. As getting so fed up of having them doing full rescans of nearly all my shops I've done. And it's a new card as well? Someone help me on this one please? If such an item is detected then this "discontinuity" triggers a full manual scan of everything with the store operator having to register a store error or customer error (recorded) for undeclared items.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03699617656518666561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3993498847203183398.post-50187209233746876672018-06-20T23:15:16.917+01:002018-06-20T23:15:16.917+01:00When the self-service till were first deployed, th...When the self-service till were first deployed, there was a supermarket executive who was interviewed, and asked whether he was worried about losing money to people scanning incorrectly. Unwisely he answered honestly - no, because they figured that honest mistakes would average out - people failing to scan would be balanced by people scanning twice. More than twenty years ago now, Safeway (remember them?!) were doing this here, associated with your ABC card - same system, automatic selection for a full re-scan spot check when you went to checkout, presumably some mix of profiling and random chance. In those days the devices were bulky and slow with poor battery life, but overall still worked perfectly well - why did it take so long for them to come back?!

If anything, the red marking is surely likely to make fraud worse - any would-be fraudster getting a non-marked device then knows they're less likely than usual to be checked, so more likely to get away with skipping an item or two?jas88https://www.blogger.com/profile/05563592458314214904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3993498847203183398.post-29961979823849075412018-06-19T18:08:18.145+01:002018-06-19T18:08:18.145+01:00That sounds like my local Sainsbury's "Ma...That sounds like my local Sainsbury's "Making it easier to park on Saturdays".
