I can see that ad-blockers could potentially make you responsible for breach of copyright as they undoubtedly produce an altered version of the web page, and presumably the implied permission only extends as far as looking at the page, not to producing altered copies. But then again it's not very different from covering up the advertisements on your screen with a piece of paper so you don't see them and nobody would claim that is a crime. But if what I am doing is not illegal then why would I take your offer of a contact. If a book has printed in it on one of the pages "You can read this page if you pay the author £1", what does that mean? Nothing! It is a contractual offer. I don't have to take that offer. I can still read the page though even without agreement of the author to do so.RevKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12369263214193333422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3993498847203183398.post-20644782483280176512013-04-17T20:28:09.368+01:002013-04-17T20:28:09.368+01:00Can you not do something similar to the car park &...Can you not do something similar to the car park "contracts" and have a banner that imposes conditions on the viewer and fees?Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07625353381741797754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3993498847203183398.post-47695134564124405982013-04-17T17:25:30.687+01:002013-04-17T17:25:30.687+01:00Yep, until this judgement the case law was that a ...Yep, until this judgement the case law was that a copyright holder can restrict viewing of a web site. It's amazing how many people get this simple distinction wrong.Simon Hewisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17322132066588851485noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3993498847203183398.post-59777049425860039692013-04-17T14:22:42.733+01:002013-04-17T14:22:42.733+01:00Yay for common sense!Yay for common sense!galoophhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04874642360748833149noreply@blogger.com
