Amazon, again

Whilst the first product we tried (and honest, this is one reason for my latest obsession with playing cards, to test Amazon) went well.

The second has not - it took a week to get in to FBA inventory for no good reason. OK, that is apparently within their terms, so OK.

Now I find there are customers waiting, over 6 days now, for delivery. Now, AFAIK, even Amazon do not consider that acceptable and would give a seller a black mark for late delivery like this.

I'll see what they have to say - I have raised yet another ticket.

  1. Amazon delaying an inbound delivery makes sense. Carriers need to pre book and pre advise amazon that they'll be going to make a delivery to a fulfillment center (The system they use is called 'Carp'). It's done for efficiency. As for outbound deliveries taking so long...thats a different kettle of fish.

  2. Is "Carp" an anagram of something else... "Kettle of fish" - good one.

  3. So for me it comes up as delivery at no extra cost for prime members, due to the "long transport distances" it's not available for the normal next day service. Makes me wonder where they've got them stored! Always had anything at a UK fullfilment centre the next day, only see that if they're held in Europe? Even Lithuania was day+1

    1. Wow, why would they not store them somewhere sensible?

    2. Also, they had not shipped any for 6 days. I’d expect them to be shipped even if the shipping took 2 days or whatever. But not even shipping them?

    3. Yeah that is strange. I assume you've asked them why it's FBA but not available for next day?
But yes, that doesn't explain not even shipping them...

    4. The plot thickens, it now says £0.00 delivery once available. Applying that they're not currently in stock?

    5. Random thought: Maybe Amazon have several fulfilment centres around the UK and it takes them time to split the stock between them?

  4. When Amazon is the only shop, which won't be all that long, they will have absolute power to destroy any small business they want either deliberately or by incompetence and there is nothing that can be done apart from raising a ticket.

    Absolute power usually ends badly.

  5. Back when Amazon used to ship via Royal Mail, they had this nice way of encouraging you to pay more for faster shipping: They'd deliberately delay shipping if you opted for the cheaper options.

    1. They used to send Prime 'next day' stuff by Royal Mail first class then blame RM when it didn't arrive the next day.

Bizarrely, the advent of Amazon Logistics has actually improved things..

Hot tubbing...

I have a hot tub, it came with the house over 3 years ago. Managing a hot tub is complicated, and expensive. The expensive part is the power...
