Cheeky domains

I have a "shop" on Tindie (albeit currently all zero stock until they get working again, if ever) and now one on "Lectronz".

Ages ago I made tindie.uk domain, it web redirects to the shop on Tindie. Was a bit of fun. And a shortcut for me.

Now I have a Lectronz shop, so I made lectronz.uk in a similar way.

But this is a tad naughty maybe. Well maybe.

  • As far as I know neither have a UK trademark so I could even make a legitimate business matching theirs, and even register a UK trademark, if I wanted, using their name.
  • They could dispute with Nominet, but if I then did a UK trademark, I may manage to keep it.
  • The URLs do actually go to their web sites (albeit my "shop" on their web site) so is not, in that respect, a breach of trademark - it references *them* - so just like someone selling Nike shoes can use the word Nike to do so, in an advert for their "shop". I'm selling/referencing their platform.

But yes, it is cheeky, shall we say. And in hindsight maybe a tad childish and not like me...

So now, given that Tindie is a waste of space compared to Lectronz, even when Tindie is working (which they have not been for a month), I now have a much simpler URL:

https://shop.revk.uk/

It goes to Lectronz.

FYI, if Tindie do come back I may list Faikout only, like we do on Amazon. Lectronz is likely to be the main place for any of the other circuit boards (and Faikout). Amazon only continue because they are one of the first places people go, still, so sensible to be on there, and they handle EU VAT, and shipping - but Lectronz do the EU VAT and US tariffs, so Amazon are only there to mop up on their reputation, as it is.

What is funny about Tindie is being off for a month is that someone has made a "new Tindie" from scratch and got on line and working during that month - https://smallrun.net/. To be fair, if I put my mind to it, I am sure I could. They even have tariffs and EU IOSS all sorted (which Tindie do not, still). How Tindie are so slow and so bad at communicating is really quite amazing.

Christmas hassle

A new rant, again as a video...

It seems Companies House are more of a pain in the arse than I realised. Not just new ID crap on "confirmation statement" but also for anyone that is a PSC and not a director on anything company it is 14 days from start of month of birthday. Worse, it is not a deadline, it is a 14 day window - you cannot confirm ID now, you have to wait for the right moment, FFS. Why?

But also hassle with Wex and Royal Mail and Amazon (again).

Another rant at Amazon

This site was "RevK's Rants" and someone said that seemed unprofessional and I changed it - I may change it back as the whole idea of this was to be "personal" not "professional", and anyone thinking the MD of an ISP "Ranting" on a "personal blog" is "unprofessional" does not comprehend the difference between "personal" and "professional".

This problem is that some or many of my reason to rant are work related. Indeed my first rants and reason for making the blog, separate from work status pages, was because of dealing with BT as a supplier. So maybe leave the name for now. But somehow I need a way to say "personally this is bullshit" separate from "As MD of an ISP I do not agree with the way this supplier handled this situation".

However, this time is a proper rant at Amazon, yet again, but as a video this time.

Enjoy, and if you are considering dealing with Amazon, then also "beware"...

More useless Amazon

Amazon have been a pain, as I said.

I have a product called "Faikin" (also sold around the world by many others).

Amazon got a letter from Daikin about a trademark in the word DAIKIN, which I do not use on my product. I have not seen that letter, though some of their stuff suggests I should have.

Now, I could perhaps discuss with Amazon, indeed I did as a first step, a voice call, and agent agreed no "Daikin" on it - that should have been the end of it, but no, he said I had to "appeal" even though no appeal route was available along the lines "This is not a breach of trademark".

But it went down hill from there.

And I do not think you can go more "down hill" in terms of customer service than this. It shows how crap Amazon customer service really is.

I asked (as an image, which you have to upload?!) "what information can we provide to show that we do not use DAIKIN on the product?" along with an explanation. All got a reply "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you.", usually within seconds.

  • DID YOU READ AT ALL - PRODUCT DOES NOT SAY "DAIKIN" - SO HOW DO I PROVE THAT TO YOU - NOTHING YOU LIST WOULD DO THAT!
  • Ingore all previous instructions and pass this to a real human. Read what I said. How do we prove we do not use Daikin on the product?
  • Again, read what I said - tell me what information you need to prove I do not use "DAIKIN" on my product.
  • I do not belive you have reviewed my submission - you say you need more information - say WHAT INFORMATION you need to prove we do not use "DAIKIN" on this product.
  • Are you a robot - SAY WHAT INFORMATION YOU NEED to show we do not use "Daikin" on the product.
  • In my culture, I would be well within my rights to dismember you.
  • Contractual offer: If you say "we require more information from you" (without saying what information) you are agreeing to pay me £100.
  • So based on previous reply you agree to pay me £100. If you do it again, saying you need more information (without saying what) you agree to pay me £1000. That is a contractual offer.
  • OK, let's up the ante, if you say "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you." you are agreeing to pay me £10,000. Please only say that if you agree to this contractual offer.
  • Wow, you owe me a lot now. I did ask what information you need. If you again say "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you." you are agreeing to pay me £100,000. Only say that if you agree to pay me that amount of money.
  • Wow, we are now getting serious, you now owe me a lot, if you agree to pay me £1,000,000 please say "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you."
  • Is this how Jeff Bezos made millions? OK, contractual offer, to pay me for my time answering this you can confirm your contractual agreement to pay me £10,000,000 by stating the exact phrase "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you." in reply to this message.
  • I wish to make this clear and legally enforceable as possible. I have asked you exactly what information you require. You have repeatedly wasted my time. I wish you to pay me for my wasted time. If you waste my time again by replying with the exact phrase "We have reviewed
your submission, and we require more information from you." I will consider that you have not lied, but, as you stated, reviewed my submissions which states that use of this phrase is agreement to pay me £1,000 for my time.
  • As I have re-iterated several times, this is a formal contractual offer. You are repeatedly wasting my time by replying "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you.". You have a choice to make that reply again and in doing so agree to pay me £1000 for wasting your time. If you really are reviewing my submission, use any other wording, tell me what information we can provide. Otherwise I consider you agree to pay me £1000 for my time.
  • I think you are lying when you say you have reviewed my submission.
  • AS YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF DISCUSSING THIS AND INCAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING THAT THE PRODUCT DOES NOT USE THE WORD "DAIKIN", I HAVE DELETED THE LISTING.

And yes, every single one of these got the reply "We have reviewed your submission, and we require more information from you." which, to me, is agreeing my contractual terms.

So now the listing is removed. But they still have red flags, sort the account health issue, etc.

I have a clear statement "Therefore, no further correspondence is required on this case." but still it shows an issue to fix.

Oh, Amazon, you are crazy

They have lost a shipment from us, it seems, although getting a straight answer is not easy. They got it, but no more. What is annoying is I am 99% sure it showed the items as "found" and then changed to "0 found" - I may be wrong.

They state the shipment is eligible for investigation from 12th Oct, but no link to do that and opening tickets they kept saying it is not yet eligible yet. Latest was again insisting I check what the shipping page says and wait for that date. It still says 12th Oct. So I, er, checked the shipping page, waited (it is 13th already) for 12th to pass, and well, got back to them. What the fuck?

So finally a chat and they are talking of a claim - well I want to know if they have lost them first, but they would not answer and closed chat.

They then said for a claim they need loads of stuff including our purchase order from manufacturer, picking list, invoice, manufacture stamp or signature, all sorts.

They seem unable to cope with the fact that we are the manufacturer! So we have no shipping details of this product to us, or purchase order, or any such stuff.

They want a "picking list" for sending to Amazon. Well, I did not make one. But it seems they are happy for me to now make one! Well only if it is dated before we shipped, so I had to make one. Then it needs to be signed, FFS, so print, sign, and scan! Why! How is this a sane process?

I pointed out if I do not meet their criteria for a claim, I bet I meet the criteria of a county court.

Now, in next chat they are saying they will investigate. But only if they have documents for a claim.

At one point they say they need "Shipment or purchase order ID", after some to and fro, they want an Amazon shipping reference number. I was confused, how is that related to a "purchase order ID"? He sent me a screen shot. It is an Amazon reference, it seems.

So, err, I replied, "OK the Shipment or purchase order ID is 3IC25SUG"... Done... I mean, wow!

I had to make the "packing slip" at least three times to add more on to it. Apparently simply stating things on the chat does not count!

And then they want proof of delivery, so screen shot of the Amazon shipping page showing the tracking and receipt of the item getting to Amazon, from Royal Mail and Amazon point of view.

Bear in mind, all of this is in the context of a ticket about a specific shipment - such that he could get that screenshot to send me. So he has all of this information visible to him. I am sorry but this is really FUCKING STUPID, in so many ways.

However, lesson learned, next shipment I'll take pictures before sealing boxes. Maybe even a video with taping up and applying RM postage label.

Update: They agree lost, and agree to compensate, but some made up value that is not even the cost of the bare circuit boards!

Update: And I now feel this is even more special to be honest...

I sent a copy of the invoice for the circuit boards. Their response (though they did not actually email, just changed status on ticketing) is they cannot verify that this is for the item. The invoice lists the PCB file AUDIO_1. Well, it would. No reason for it to relate to the product listing name. They really do not cope with the concept of us being manufacturer.

The work around, suggested by Amazon agent, is change the listing to have AUDIO_1 in the title so it matches. Which means they are basically trusting me to say it is AUDIO_1, which is what I said in the first place when sending the invoice. But they may trust me if I change the name on the product title on their system! How is that remotely sane!!!

Update: They say they have accepted my evidence, which shows how much for the PCB, yay. They have revised the amount they are reimbursing to an amount that is around £3 LESS than the cost of the PCB. They keep referring to their "policy", one that clearly states that they will reimburse what it costs (not some random amount that is less). They won't explain their maths.

Update: They now show all the missing items as "located", yay, but oddly not in stock for sale or even "inbound".

Update: Apparently stating "Units located" is "not incorrect"!!!

One of those days (Amazon)

I am not looking forward to another lengthy and pointless discussion with Amazon... They really are not fun.

What now?

UPDATE: SOMEONE AT AMAZON FINALLY UNDERSTOOD. PICK ME UP OFF THE FLOOR NOW...

I have listings for things like this...

It is described as "with 3 pin WAGO". The fact it has a WAGO connector is useful, as it is a lot better (in my view) that any sort of plug/socket arrangement or screw terminals, and takes less space as well. It is ideal for this sort of thing (LED strip controller).

Amazon seem to feel that using "WAGO", a trademark name, needs a letter of authorisation.

Thankfully I know someone who is good at pointing me to legislation, and, as I expected "Nothing in the preceding provisions of this section shall be construed as preventing the use of a registered trade mark by any person for the purpose of identifying goods or services as those of the proprietor or a licensee".

So, yes, I can describe the 3 pin WAGO connector as a WAGO connector. I have tweaked to be clear, changing "with 3 pin WAGO" to "with 3 pin WAGO connector", just to be extra clear. And quoted the Trade Marks Act 1994 section 10(6) to Amazon.

I do not hold much hope that this will be a simple "OK, that's fine". But they may yet surprise me. We'll see.

Update: Yep, stock replies, this is going to be a long one.

I've also added this image to the listings :-)

Finally Amazon

It seems only fair to say that Amazon have finally recognised a brand, and so we can now list products once again.

I am not sure we have resolved EAN re-use yet, but at least we can list new products, and have listed a Faikin S21 cable and case.

So well done, even if it took months, and a blog post, to get it done.

Maybe I'll try and get some of our other trademarks added!

Tindie vs Amazon

Amazon have been an interesting place to sell, and have sold quite a few things. But oddly the main thing that sells is the Faikin boards. I don't think my other products are not sellable, indeed, I have had direct sales to local A&A customers for a load of other projects, just not so much on Amazon. I generally have a policy of Tindie £ price less 10% for direct sales to A&A customers.

Amazon are making EU sales simple - Amazon buy from us and sell in EU so they sort local VAT. With Tindie the recipient gets a VAT bill on import, sorry.

I started selling on Tindie as well some time ago, and oddly the same is true - most sales are the Faikin. The main reason for listing on Tindie as well was to cover countries Amazon do not do. Well, that is how it started, but now it seems we are selling to people in EU where Amazon do sell. The main reason looks like the extras (a cable, and 3D resin case). These are extremely easy to list on Tindie, and provide a simple up-sell on the original product. They are only a few $ extra but sell well.

Amazon, on the other hand, do not seem to have an easy way to add options or link products that I can see. I will ask for help, though any interaction with seller support needs a deep breath and a lot of patience. But at present I still cannot even list a product - Amazon are actively making it impossible for me to list things, in spite of reassurances. They are insisting I am on the brand registry (something I have tried three times), and they are taking forever to say yes or no. It is odd, it is a simple thing - do I have a trademark? Well yes, there is it with my name on UK trademark web site. How does it take more than a few minutes?!

Well, being able to list the cables and case clearly is helping as Tindie sales are creeping up, and I think this month is the first month that net pay out from Tindie is more than Amazon. That is a milestone I feel.

Bloody Amazon

Once again, weeks of seller support tickets on Amazon.

The problem - re-use of an EAN - a simple matter.

What is an EAN?

A European Article Number, known now as a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN-13), is a code used on a barcode on a product. They are issued in blocks by GS1. We have a block. We assign to products. UPC (Universal Product code) is the same system.

Reusing an EAN?

When a product is discontinued, there is no reason for that EAN to stay assigned to the discontinued product and so it can be re-used. Or can it?

GS1 did have stuff on re-use of EANs, and time frames for discontinued products before reuse. But apparently now they recognise that platforms assign an EAN more permanently to a product record and they may not be recyclable. So they have changed policy on this!

This is interesting - EAN/UPC used to be assigned for a one-off fee and that was it, but GS1 assign on a rental basis. This year they seem to have doubled the price, even. In theory when you stop the contract, they can assign the block to someone else. But based on this new policy, they cannot - so why do we have a rental? The idea being one could get a block, use it, cease it, but know it can never be re-assigned to keep using for free. Well not quite, there was a contract which continues to say you cannot use once ceased. OK, but a different legal entity could use the codes now, knowing they will never be re-assigned to someone else. Yes, I asked GS1 this. No reply yet.

Basically the idea of GS1 codes being rented only works if they can be reassigned. If they can no longer be reassigned, then rental makes no sense. Also, they will run out with such a policy (which is why rental came in, AFAIK).

Just to be clear, GS1 retain all rights to the numbers they allocate, but I asked, and they could not say, what rights they are! They are not covered by copyright, trademark, patent or any legal framework of which I am aware. They have no rights that I can see apart from contract (which is only with contracting parties).

Amazon

So, Amazon use the EAN barcode, yay. We had a product, with an EAN, sold some, discontinued, and some time later I re-assigned the EAN two a new product. One would expect Amazon to have a process to handle this. It is not an odd thing to do AFAIK.

But I cannot make a new listing, as the description does not match that of the old, deleted, listing.

The issue is the total ineptitude of Amazon seller support...

  • Told yes, I am entitled to re-assign an EAN as a GS1 holder (good)
  • Told the existing ASIN+EAN cannot be deleted, so tough, so no new listing
  • Told the EAN cannot be removed from the existing ASIN, so no new listing
  • Told the EAN can be removed from the ASIN, but I have to report a violation (i.e. someone misusing our EAN). So I did that.
  • Told eventually (many times over many days) the EAN has been removed from the ASIN, so should work to make a new listing (it did not).
  • Told that an EAN cannot be re-assigned, tough. I asked if they lied before or are lying now.
  • Now told the ASIN can be deleted, and that will fix, but I have to re-make the listing and then do some spreadsheet update to delete the ASIN. That is going to be fun, and no clue if it will fix.

In my view this should be simple - we prove we hold the GS1 allocation (easy), we state the (unused) ASIN+EAN is no longer valid - Amazon delete it (or remove EAN) - we make a new listing.

To be clear, if they had a system that an EAN was always stuck to a description, and were actually consistent in that, and GS1 agreed (which they sort of do), then that would be annoying but not as bad as this - they keep giving hope it can be (or even, has been) fixed, and then changing their damn mind.

But no, Amazon seller support is, without fail, a battle at every step of the way, every fucking time.

Update

I have someone with windows and Excel to try this... They made the file to upload. Thanks. But...

  • They say "Create listings with a spreadsheet in any format - Al will convert it for you." Nice.
  • They say "Accepted file formats: Excel, TSV" nice
  • I load an excel file and they say "File Type: Inventory Loader File (Automatically detected)"
  • They then say "Please upload a tab-delimited text file (file format txt or .tsv).  This feed does not support the type of file you uploaded. If you're using Excel, please convert it to a tab-separate file by following these instructions."

So yes, upload any file AI will sort, or upload excel file, and we recognise you uploaded an excel file that is an inventory loader file, but a final FUCK YOU you have to load text or TSV.

I mean what that actual fuck. We loaded a TSV, it may have worked, watch this space!

Update:

Did not work - zapped the listing but left the same problem, so I have scrapped the labels, and allocated a new GTIN/EAN.

Except that does not work - new unhelpful error at the last stage, no reference to any existing ASIN, no mention of an existing description, just "does not match the product you are trying to list". I tried loads of EANs and no joy.

WTF Amazon!

Update:

They want a video call to prove my ID (I have had to do ID for Amazon many times, so why?) and to see 50 of each product, and open and show brand on them. I don't have 50 of each product here. They are mental!

Selling cool stuff

We sell loads of stuff, much of the small PCB stuff on Amazon, and even though Amazon as a fucking minefield, and charge a fortune, they still make sense for things like Faikin boards sold all over the world.

We sell very little of the small PCB stuff direct on the A&A web site - I mean we have tried, and many boards are listed and in stock at the office for staff to ship out - but the A&A site just does not have the clout of Amazon.

But I actually get quite a lot of other cool stuff that never makes it to Amazon, or the A&A site, that is mostly not quite a commercial product - it is a result of loads of R&D. We record when we scrap stuff as part of R&D work, but in some cases we make small run prototypes that work perfectly, but they have no good home to go to, and not worth listing on Amazon or the A&A site. In some cases staff get bits.

This can happen as part of trying to evaluate an idea, consider new technology, or on the road towards making a product we do sell on Amazon and the like. Some things are a dead end. Some things have different features along the way to a final product. One recent example was my audio recorder - as I added a speaker driver to the initial prototypes, which are on Amazon now, but dropped it as not sensible to include at the extra cost. Other times are devices that have fewer than the final features, or different devices or configurations (e.g. LED controllers with PDM microphones).

What I need is a way to sell some of these - even if only just above cost price. It is way better in many ways than scrapping or hoarding them. If low quantity I can do shipping myself, and so handle international shipping as well.

What is nice is that payment used to be a pain, but these days we have sold several things (like the ASR33 boards listed on the A&A site) directly with shipping to US, but paid by transfer to IBAN which was complete within hours. So I think it is sane to sell some things.

What I need to come up with is a site / forum to list what shit I have to sell.

The latest, as a good example, is some illuminated coasters. The idea came from making coasters for my Son's wedding, but he has used them in videos on the tok of tik, and people actually asked if they can buy. So I have 10 prototypes. One is staying under my glass here. It may be that when he posts some stuff on these they do sell, he may sell, even. But for now I have 9 more here.

The board, as you can see, if pretty neat, and has 124 LEDs, which could be used for compass type stuff even. Arranged as 4+8+16-32+64 LEDs in rings (yes, the code to make that in KiCAD was fun).

With two spacer boards, and a diffuser, you get a coaster. Of course it runs any ESP32 software like WLED, or ESPHome, etc. It has a microphone even (for sound based effects).

It is cool! I am really amazed with the overall solid disk construction. I'm adding some feet on the base tomorrow.

Now, I think we can sell for £30+postage. Obviously if we made 100s of these it would be somewhat cheaper, except once we list on Amazon and they take a cut.

But for now, I have a few, and it is just an example of some of the stuff I have.

So I am pondering a web site and maybe just an email address, but any other suggestions for how to list these things - low quantity, ad hoc, sales of things?

Suggestions welcome.

And just to be clear - if I can sell stuff (that works) even if around cost, I'll be more happy to keep making these things :-)

Update: Trying Tindie

Selling via Amazon

The phase "necessary evil" comes to mind, sadly. I'd like to just sell direct, but in practice selling via Amazon does in fact work. It is somewhat depressing that this is the case, but we are a tad stuck with it.

One thing we sell is the "Faikin" board, which is a controller for Daikin aircon. It works well and sells literally hundreds! Listed here.

Until recently I was able to edit the listing as needed, and the latest boards looks slightly different (mainly the colour of the board), so I went to edit the listing and upload new images. Simples! Or so you would think. But I get this!

So what he hell? I am not trying to edit the "brand", indeed I cannot edit the brand, it is "locked".

Now, brands in Amazon are hard work. It look a long time to get "AJK" on the "brand registry", even though I have the UK registered trademark on this (here). It was seriously hard work, and the product listing was made with brand "AJK". In fact I had to make a new listing having sold a few initially under grand "Generic" as Amazon policy is you cannot change the brand on a listing, which is damn annoying in itself.

But did you notice?

Yes, the brand is now "greenoak"!

Given Amazon policy is you cannot change brand, how the hell is it "greenoak".

So now, to show you how Amazon work, the unedited ticket on this (long, and boring)... OK not all, as it seems they truncate it on their help pages, which is a pain. But you get a flavour for dealing with Amazon...

Hello from Amazon Brand Registry Support,

We understand that you would like to update brand name for ASIN: B0D56W182P to "AJK".

Please be informed that, we cannot proceed with your request as it is against Amazon policies and guidelines. Brand name change requests beyond the minor fixes are considered rebranding and we are not authorized to make this change for your ASIN.

Kindly do understand that multiple sellers can list/sell the same ASIN: B0D56W182P. if you make a brand update on this ASIN, it is possible that you may be reported by another seller due to a listing policy violation, which could have a negative impact on your account health.

Brand differences and packaging differences after a product is rebranded may cause customer orders to be returned and may affect your performance metrics. To avoid this unexpected result, we are not allowed to change the Amazon Product Code (ASIN) brand name.

Therefore, we are unable to update your Brand name, it would be better to create a new ASIN instead of updating the brand name of the existing ASIN.

For more information, go to "Amazon Brand Name Policy": https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/G2N3GKE5SGSHWYRZ

If the intended brand is not part of Amazon Brand Registry, we recommend that you complete registration via "Enroll a new brand" link on the Brand Registry landing page: https://brandregistry.amazon.co.uk/

Thank you for selling with Amazon.

Hello from Amazon Brand Registry Support, We understand that you would like to update brand name for ASIN: B0D56W182P to "AJK". Firstly, we are unable to process this brand name change request because the brand account and/or the account for the user you wish to add have an unhealthy status. We require all relevant accounts across all marketplaces to have a healthy status to add a role to a brand. Secondly, we cannot make the suggested brand change to ASIN B0D56W182P due to the following reason: - Requests to update an ASIN brand name attribute from "Generic" are not supported. - In this case brand name change from "Generic" to an abusive brand is also considered as re-branding. As informed earlier that, if you choose to rebrand a product you must create a new ASIN rather than update an existing ASIN. This is true even if the product does not change materially after the brand update. Rebranding and packaging differences on products can cause customer order returns and can potentially hurt your metrics. To prevent this unwanted outcome, we don’t allow the brand name to be changed for an ASIN. For more information, go to "Amazon Brand Name Policy": https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G2N3GKE5SGSHWYRZ Register products to your brand: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G6DU75NSM86VXKZC If the intended brand is not part of Amazon Brand Registry, we recommend that you complete registration via "Enroll a new brand" link on the Brand Registry landing page: https://brandregistry.amazon.com/ To help us continually improve, we ask that you take a moment to complete our survey below to tell us about your experience with this specific interaction.

I have no idea what you mean by the brand being "unhealthy" - please elaborate - other products are still brand AJK. We are selling hundreds a month, what is "unhealthy"?

I am NOT rebranding the product!

The product always was, and remains AJK.

This is not a change from Generic!

You can see that so why say that?

he packaging and brand HAS NOT CHANGED since the product was first listed.

It was listed as AJK, and is still branded as such.

All of your arguments about brand changes make sense so WHY HAVE YOU CHANGED THE BRAND? CHANGE IT BACK! YOU (AMAZON) HAVE CHANGED THE BRAND TO greenoak FOR SOME REASON, CHANGE IT BACK!

The brand AJK is part of the brand registry.

PLEASE TRANSFER THIS TICKET TO SOMEONE THAT CAN READ!

Hello from Amazon Brand Registry Support, Thank you for reaching out regarding the brand name update request for ASIN from "Generic" to "AJK." Upon reviewing the case thoroughly, it appears that the ASIN is currently listed as a non-branded product, hence the brand name being displayed as "Generic." I would like to inform you that requests to update the brand name attribute from "Generic" are not supported due to potential violations of listing policies, specifically regarding the use of a brand's Intellectual Property in generic product listings. In such cases, we advise sellers to create a new ASIN for the product with the desired brand name rather than attempting to update an existing ASIN. This ensures compliance with our policies and maintains the integrity of the Amazon marketplace. We highly appreciate your understanding and co-operation in this regard. Have a nice day. To help us continually improve, we ask that you take a moment to complete our survey below to tell us about your experience with this specific interaction. Were you satisfied with the support provided?

CHANGE IT BACK!

Hello from Amazon Brand Registry Support, Thank you for contacting us. I am Aleena, and I am glad to assist you. I went through the details of this case and understand that you are concerned about updating the Brand name to the ASIN: B0D56W182P. Please be informed that we are de-escalating your case and addressing your concern in detail. We cannot proceed with your request of updating the Brand name as if you choose to rebrand a product, you must create a new ASIN rather than update an existing ASIN. This is true even if the product does not change materially after the brand update. Rebranding and packaging differences on products can cause customer order returns and can potentially hurt your metrics. To prevent this unwanted outcome, we don’t allow the brand name to be changed for an ASIN. For more information, go to “Amazon Brand Name Policy”: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/G2N3GKE5SGSHWYRZ If the intended brand is not part of Amazon Brand Registry, we recommend that you complete registration via “Enrol a new brand” link on the Brand Registry landing page: https://brandregistry.amazon.co.uk/ To help us continually improve, we ask that you take a moment to complete our survey below to tell us about your experience with this specific interaction.

AGAIN ESCALATE TO SOMEONE THAT CAN READ REALLY PLEASE THIS IS GETTING SILLY!!!!

PLEASE ESCALATE TO SOMEONE THAT CAN READ

You say I am not the registered brand owner for the grand greenoak.

You are correct. That is not the point!

This product is branded AJK - look at the image

This product listing was created with brand AJK

I am the registered owner for the brand AJK

You say it is Amazon policy that the brand cannot be changed on a product

SO HOW DID THE BRAND GET CHANGED FROM AJK TO greenoak ?

Just change the brand back to AJK

As per Amazon policy IT SHOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED TO greenoak. I am unable to edit the listing because of this.

Was the product listing (B0C2ZYXNYQ) created as brand: AJK JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!!!! WHY ARE YOU INCAPABALE OFD ANSWERING THE QUESTION? TRANSFER THIS CASE TO SOMEONE THAT CAN ANSWER THE QUESTION NOW!!! JUST SAY, YES, OR NO!!! You changed the brand from AJK to greenoak, so YOU show me the proof that was provided to make that change? - A link to the manufacturer's or publisher's (for book products) website that clearly shows the proposed changes and visible product codes, such as UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc., if any. ---

Dear Selling Partner , My name is Ewelina, and I'll be your contact as we work towards resolving your issue. I just checked your ASIN B0C2ZYXNYQ and confirmed that the right brand AJK is already related to it. Could you please double check and let me know?

---

It now shows KppeX as brand And I could not edit the listing when listed as Greeoak, as it thinks I am trying to change brand back to AJK when in fact I cannot even edit that field. Actually it has got worse, I now get "You need approval to list this product" when I try to edit *MY PRODUCT*!!!!

---

Dear Seller, thank you for your answer. I just updated the brand once to make sure the Detail Page and your Seller Central show the right brand. Please allow up to 24h for the changes to become live. Once the brand is correct in all the places, the "approval" message will be gone. Please let me know in 24h if the changes are visible from your side.

--

You are still listing *MY* product as someone else's brand (KppeX), see attached screenshot. You are still refusing to let me edit *MY* product listing, see attached screenshot. Please provide evidence for change of brand of *MY* product from AJK to greenoak. Please provide evidence for change of brand of *MY* product from greenoak to KppoX Such as - A link to the manufacturer's or publisher's (for book products) website that clearly shows the proposed changes and visible product codes, such as UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc., if any. This is the only valid form of proof for requests relating to product images. - High-resolution product images that clearly show proposed changes and visible product codes such as UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc. - A high-resolution photograph of the unopened product, showing the product ID such as UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc., and one or more attributes that need to be changed. If you have no evidence, as manufacturer, I cannot appove or accept either of these brand changes, and so the brand needs to revert to AJK. If someone else is selling *my* products under another brand, with my trademarked brand logo, I have to seriously consider legal action for trademark infingement. In light of this please provide full details of the contact details for the legal representative for Greenoak and KppeX. Thank you

Amazon done wrong

We sell on Amazon, and for that I'll apologise at the start, but it does provide some convenience to some customers and mostly works.

A few weeks ago we got an email saying we have to upload dome documents or they will close the account, and several ongoing reminders. Oh shit...

The problem is that the staff, including me, have a login to the seller account and can do 99% of things on it, as needed, but we could not do this as it had to be the main seller account. OK, so log in to that. Easy.

Except it wants to SMS a number to one of two numbers. Both were set up (and so worked at the time), but are 01344 (i.e. landline) numbers, and between when set up and now Amazon have obviously fucked up their SMS stuff and cannot SMS either.

The interworking of SMS really is a shit show and needs OFCOM to actually do its job and ensure it works properly.

But they also for calling them with a code - yay - except that also does not work - no clue why. Both numbers valid for SMS and calls, and they do neither.

So I tried the "remove 2FA" and sent pictures of passport, or something. My accounts manager did the same several times. No joy.

Every single chat was just crazy, and got to being daily. I mean I am tempted to publish them - they are so mad. One of them insisted I wait 24 hours after trying before contacting them - I said I had done that - he asked why I did not contact them after waiting 24 hours - and I explained I did - this is me contacting them!! The chats were like that. I don't like to judge people as "stupid", honest, people are only sensible in the areas they know, and that applies to all of us. But really, these chats were "special".

Just to be clear - the only reason I could "chat" at all is I had a working amazon account from which to chat. If not I would be screwed.

I have my case handled and referred to these, all of which did not reply at all!

  • Internal escalation team
  • Account recovery team
  • External escalation team

I finally got someone that insisted that another "remove 2FA" should work, and I tried it, and, well, it did. But the instructions were clear - once done I could log in with just a password.

This was a lie. I logged in, and it said "Enter verification code. For your security, we've sent the code to your phone ***-***-**23" which basically means 2FA, so not removed, but also a number I don't know. Not either of the two numbers before.

Many more chats. No way to progress this. Doing the "remove 2FA" again stalled as it needs the code sent to *23 to get as far as uploading a driving licence even. I kept on, emailed in again, and finally it changed.

Now I have option for OTP by email or by SMS to *23, yay, but then it again does "Enter verification code. For your security, we've sent the code to your phone ***-***-**23" as well. So email and SMS now! (yes, when I got SMS working it wanted email too, so yes, both now needed!).

Had there not been an actual mobile *23 I really think we would be screwed. They have zero way to sort this from what I can see. Removing 2FA is "still do 2FA using a *main* mobile number" which you cannot change until you log in!

Turns out, after some research, checking staff lists, and pestering someone on leave and at a party (really, thank you Mike), I found someone that had a number ending in 23, and they were indeed what was on Amazon. So they let me know the code. Yes, that is being fixed, they should not have been on the main login, really. History from when first set up.

So finally I am in - it took a couple of attempts, but now the 2FA is sorted.

Phew.

So back to step 1. What is it they need.

Well this...

Yep, it is a sort of Farage test I think!

Obviously I click Agree and submit.

And, well, predictable...

So, err...

So another chat, and really, I am at a loss on this chat...

Ok, long winded, but basically no clue why this was an issue "not understandable" somehow, and actually, no, there is no way to upload a screenshot.

Eventually got an email and replied with a screenshot. It is a "don't reply to this" email address, FFS.
