After my post http://revk.www.me.uk/2011/11/knee-jerk-reaction-government.html I am pleasantly surprised to find that 5 deaths a day on UK roads is news!
Well done BBC - with an interactive map of road deaths...
"Britain has one of the best records in the world for road casualties.
However, hundreds still die on the roads every year. In 2010, the police
recorded 1,850 deaths, 22,660 people seriously injured and 184,138 who
received light injuries."

The local area has only one road death in 10 years. Seems good to me, although I suspect not the 'oooh scary' response the BBC were going for.
ReplyDeleteHelps to not be in a city, I guess..
Also, back of the fagpacket maths tells me that the chances of being killed on the roads in the UK on any given day is about 1 in 10 million.
